The El Amistad Club of Round Rock has awarded $69,000 in scholarships to 50 Round Rock ISD students to assist in post-secondary education.

Scholarships ranged between $1,200 and $2,700 and were awarded May 1 at Cedar Ridge High School.

“We wish the best of luck to these students as they move on with their lives,” El Amistad President Al Garcia said. “We hope they will reap the benefits of their education and succeed as leaders of our community.”

El Amistad Club of Round Rock is a non-profit civil organization with a commitment to education, community services recognition of veterans and promotion of Hispanic cultural awareness, according to the organization. Since the organization’s inception in 1968, El Amistad of Round Rock has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships to students.
