Students from Canyon Vista, Cedar Valley and Walsh middle schools have been invited to compete in the Texas State Historical Association (TSHA) Texas Quiz Show, to be held April 30 at the Bullock Texas State History Museum.
Shantanu Thorat of Walsh and Andy Tutuc, Saavan Myneni and Anish Maddipoti of Canyon Vista and Kayla Frank, Anouka Saha, Myra Stickney of Cedar Valley will compete with the top 34 history students in Texas for the Texas Quiz Show. Myneni will defend his title of 2015 Texas Quiz Show champion, where he faced Maddipoti in the final round.
Cedar Valley students Evelyn Tjoa, Adithi Vijayaraja, Lyssa Frank were also invited to compete.
“The Texas Quiz Show was a really fun experience last year,” Myneni said. “I’m looking forward to competing again this year.”
During Texas History Month, students competed in a series of fast-paced and progressively more challenging history quizzes. The final round — The Texas Quiz Show — will be a “Jeopardy!” Style competition with categories like history, politics, sports, pop culture, weather and geography. Prizes include a personal tour of the Alamo for the winner and their family, museum and entertainment all-access passes, signed books and gift cards.
