The Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees selected Paul J. Tisch to serve as the board president during its Nov. 19 regular meeting.
Tisch, who previously served as board secretary, will lead the board with vice president Pauline Law and secretary Terri Romere.
Tisch was first appointed to the Board of Trustees in 2013 and was elected for his first term in the November 2014 election.
“I am excited and thankful to have been chosen to serve Round Rock ISD as board president,” Tisch said. “We have a dedicated group of trustees and I am eager to continue working to ensure our students have the best opportunities as we prepare them for the future.”
Prior to being appointed to the Board of Trustees, Tisch was a member of the Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District Board of Directors and served as its president from 2007-2009. Tisch also served as president of the Emergency Services District #2 Board of Commissioners from 2011-2012, and president of the Cat Hollow Homeowners Association from 2004-2006. He is a Round Rock High School Band Booster, a past Cub Scout Den leader, and was a member of the Building Committee of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
A graduate of Texas A&M University, Tisch achieved the rank of cadet captain in the Corps of Cadets and is currently employed by Utility Service Group. He and his wife, Debbie Tisch, have three children. They have lived in Round Rock since 2001.
Tisch succeeds Charles “Chad” Chadwell, who has served on the board since 2008, most recently serving as board president.
“Charles ‘Chad’ Chadwell showed true commitment to the value of public education during his tenure as board president,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve Flores said. “I wholeheartedly thank him for his passion and servant leadership.”
The Board of Trustees also voted to change district policy stating the board must reorganize and choose new leadership following each election. The board will now select new leadership each year.
