The Round Rock ISD Partners in Education Foundation raised $240,228 at its annual Shining Stars Gala, held March 28, 2015.
The Gala is the Foundation’s largest fundraising event of the year and proceeds are used to enrich, enhance and maximize the quality of education for all students in Round Rock ISD through scholarships, classroom grants and more. The Shining Stars Gala was supported in part by St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center as a platinum sponsor with a $30,000 donation and Dell as a gold sponsor with a $15,000 donation.
“We are extremely grateful to all the community business partners who contributed funds to underwrite the entire event, allowing the Foundation to focus on raising more money for teachers, staff and students during the evening,” said Marianne Reap, PIE Foundation executive director. “Together, with the district, we will be able to provide additional tools and equipment for classrooms and support programs that make a direct impact on the education of our students.”
This year’s event, “An Evening in Old Mexico,” was hosted at the Renaissance Hotel in Austin and featured performances by Cedar Ridge High School’s Ballet Folklorico and Stony Point High School’s Mariachi Band.
In 2014, the Foundation raised more than $226,000 at the gala, which helped fund 40 projects through grants.
“Thank you to the PIE Foundation for planning an outstanding event to benefit our students,” said Dr. Steve Flores, superintendent of schools. “Grants from the Foundation can be seen throughout our schools every day, and I am eager to see how the next generation of grants will help create a world class learning environment.”
