Round Rock ISD students showcased their language skills nationally in the 2025 edition of Le Grand Concours, the National French Contest hosted by the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF). Hundreds of French learners across the District competed in April, with four Round Rock ISD campuses earning 245 honors.
Students from Cedar Valley Middle School, McNeil High School, Pearson Ranch Middle School, and Westwood High School were recognized with various awards, including platinum, gold, silver, and bronze medals and honorable and merit mentions.
Marie-Christine Douglass, Round Rock ISD’s K-12 World Languages Coordinator, celebrated the achievement.
“I’m so proud of our students and teachers for the incredible results at the National French Contest,” said Douglass. “It speaks volumes about our students’ dedication and the effort they consistently put in. It’s clear that our teachers have a true passion for teaching and for creating a supportive environment. It’s wonderful to see their hard work pay off!”
Westwood High School
Westwood earned the District’s highest number of total recognitions, with 110 students honored. Their students received seven gold, 17 silver, and 10 bronze medals, along with 31 honorable mentions and 45 merit mentions.
Cedar Valley Middle School
Cedar Valley followed closely behind with 79 total awards, including a standout achievement of three Platinum Medals for perfect scores. The campus also secured seven gold, 14 silver, 19 bronze medals, and 36 honorable mentions.
McNeil High School
McNeil students brought home 30 awards, including four gold, five silver, and four bronze medals, alongside 17 honorable mentions.
Pearson Ranch Middle School
Pearson Ranch earned its place on the podium with 26 student awards. Their honors included one Platinum Medal, five gold, nine silver, five bronze medals, and six honorable mentions.
These outstanding results affirm Round Rock ISD’s continued excellence in language learning. The District proudly recognizes each student for their hard work and congratulates them on representing their schools and community with distinction.
