Round Rock ISD proudly presents the state’s second-highest number of All-State musicians this year. Fifty-nine students from Cedar Ridge, McNeil, Round Rock, Stony Point, and Westwood high schools earned their place in the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State band, orchestra, or choir. Of that total, Westwood High School contributed the highest number of All-State musicians in the state, with 28 students attending the convention.
“I am incredibly proud of our hard-working students and their dedicated teachers,” said Erin Campbell, Principal of Westwood High School. “Earning a place in the TMEA All-State ensembles represents tremendous talent and commitment, and I am thrilled to see so many of our Westwood musicians recognized at this level.”
Over 70,000 high school musicians audition each fall in their TMEA Region. Students perform individually for a panel of judges. The highest-ranking student musicians advance to compete against students from other Regions in their TMEA Area. The highest-ranking student musicians at the TMEA Area competitions qualify to perform in one of 18 Texas All-State bands, orchestras, and choirs.
The 59 Round Rock ISD student musicians who qualify will perform at the annual TMEA Clinic/Convention in San Antonio, Texas, from Feb. 12 to 15, 2025. There, they will work with nationally recognized conductors who will rehearse with the groups for three days and conclude with a performance.
