Dear Round Rock ISD community,
Outstanding public education happens because of great people. Round Rock ISD stands out as a remarkable place for families to educate their children, explore new opportunities, and shape their futures, thanks to the greatness of our community.
Our district’s commitment is to prepare ALL students for academic success, lifelong learning, adaptability, and achievement in their chosen paths. We strive to instill in them the belief that their aspirations are within reach and that they possess the tools to turn them into reality.
I think Westwood High School science teacher Chris Milhealsick said it best in her acceptance speech last week when she was named 2025 Texas Teacher of the Year, “We teach everyone who comes through our doors to the very best of our ability and we see firsthand the energy and potential that the kids of Texas have.”
Chris Milhealsick was chosen from more than 384,000 Texas teachers. I am proud to celebrate Mrs. Milhealsick’s achievement and the positive impact she has on the lives of our students. Her commitment to student success inspires those in her classroom and uplifts our entire school community. Milhealsick advances to the National Teacher of the Year program, whose winner will be announced by the President of the United States next spring during a Rose Garden ceremony.
Public education is vital to community well-being and growth, serving as the foundation for an informed and engaged citizenry. By fostering inclusivity and diversity, public education strengthens social bonds and encourages collaboration among families, educators, and local organizations. Well-funded public schools contribute to economic development by attracting families and businesses, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for all community members. Supporting public education is an investment in the future of our communities.
At their most recent regular meeting, the Board of Trustees reviewed community feedback from the Legislative Priorities Survey and revisited the district’s Legislative Priorities. These priorities concentrate on the critical area of public school funding and encompass the following key aspects: the District’s stance on school finances, state testing and accountability, Senate Bill I, teacher recruitment and retention, and school safety.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5. Voting is your chance to stand up for the issues you care about and decide on the quality of life you want for yourself, your family, and your community. You can find Travis and Williamson County polling locations on the Round Rock ISD website.
I am incredibly grateful for your calls and emails of support. The dedication and passion our entire community brings to our schools every day makes a real impact, inspiring one another and everyone around us. Let’s keep working side by side, aiming high, and making a lasting, positive difference for our students and our whole community.
Respectfully,
Dr. Hafedh “AZ” Azaiez
Proud Superintendent of Schools
