Round Rock ISD celebrated its annual Back to School Celebration on Saturday, August 3, with more than 4,000 students and families who filled the Cedar Ridge High School cafeteria to kick off the new school year.
“The start of a new school year is one of the best times of the year, and this event is a great way to celebrate that start,” said Superintendent Dr. Hafedh Azaiez. “We’re thankful to all of our community partners and to everyone who worked together to make this such a successful community event.”
The event, sponsored by the Round Rock ISD Partners in Education Foundation and Texas Children’s Hospital, provided students with free vaccinations, eye exams, and hearing exams while providing riveting entertainment and fun-filled activities for all age groups throughout the day.
“I’m so excited to go back to school,” said incoming fourth grader, Hayoon Kim. “I like doing art. I’m so ready to go back to art class in my school.”
Over 200 community members volunteered at the event, which included live entertainment, and photo opportunities with Round Rock ISD Transportation, Round Rock Police SWAT, and the Round Rock Fire Department. Students and families connected with different Round Rock ISD groups, such as the nail polish and temporary tattoo station with Round Rock ISD Police.
“I am proud that we could highlight some of our district offerings, like our Robotics program,” said Jackie Cyriac, Round Rock ISD’s Community Partnerships Supervisor. “It’s also nice to see so many families connecting with the servant leaders in our district, like our Round Rock ISD Police Department.”
