Laura Terry-Brown is the new principal of Canyon Vista Middle School.

Terry-Brown started her career with Round Rock ISD as a math teacher at Hernandez IB World and Ridgeview Middle School.

While teaching, she was dedicated to cultivating an atmosphere of academic excellence, fostering professional growth, and promoting community engagement to support students’ comprehensive development.

Terry-Brown transitioned into administration as an assistant principal at Ridgeview Middle School for two years and as an associate principal for three years at Westwood IB World High School.

“It is an honor to have been chosen as the principal of Canyon Vista Middle School. I believe our Mustangs can positively impact the world, and by working together, we can ignite their academic and extracurricular passions, “ said Terry-Brown. “Grounded in our core values of respect, responsibility, safety, and kindness, we will foster authentic achievement, develop a solid work ethic, and cultivate healthy social-emotional skills to prepare all students for a seamless transition to high school and beyond.”

Laura brings 15 years of experience in education, all with Round Rock ISD. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Lamar University and a graduate degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas in Austin.

Dr. Zac Oldham, Westwood Learning Community area superintendent, said, “Mrs. Terry-Brown has a proven track record of success at the middle school level and within the Westwood Learning Community. I look forward to seeing her partner with the amazing students, staff, and Canyon Vista Middle School community to build upon their rich tradition of excellence.”

Her first day with Canyon Vista Middle School will be Monday, July 29.
