Summer is in full swing here at Round Rock ISD, and the district offers a variety of camps for families to partake in throughout the summer.
There are dozens of camps available for kids of all ages.
This week we previewed two camps led by Round Rock ISD educators. A Kinder Readiness camp and Dungeons and Dragons were held at Elsa England Elementary School.
At Kinder Readiness camp, the children spend their mornings doing early literacy activities, including phonics and writing, social-emotional learning activities, and math. These children also get the chance to practice their fine motor skills, alongside other future Round Rock ISD students.
“I believe this camp is important because it gives rising kindergarteners the opportunity to experience what school will be like,” said their teacher, Annie Kisselburg. “We want these kids to be excited to start school!”
Dungeons and Dragons is a program geared towards older students and gives them an opportunity to tap into their imagination and problem-solving skills by playing the well-known board game.
“I love playing Dungeons and Dragons at home, but no one really has time for it. I thought attending a camp could be more engaging for me.” said incoming eighth grader Devin Greenslet. “I wish the camp was longer! I feel like I’m making friends.”
Devin said he enjoys the creativity, humor, and randomness that goes into the game.
Students of all ages are learning and enjoying their summer together at these camps.
