Four brothers from Fern Bluff Elementary School have learned teamwork really does make the dream work. The dream work for others, that is.

William, Ethan, Jacob, and Lucas Teske collectively raised $1,250 for the American Heart Association through the Kids Heart Challenge at their campus. That puts them among the top 10 contributors in the Austin area!

The Kids Heart Challenge is a service-learning program implemented by elementary schools with the purpose of providing students an opportunity to support the fight against heart diseases and stroke while also learning how to lead a healthy lifestyle and raising awareness for heart diseases and stroke.

Amy Newman, the Regional Vice President for the American Heart Association, said the group was grateful for the boys’ efforts.

“[The Teske brothers] took the challenge and excelled to the highest levels, and in doing so made a tremendous impact on the lives of so many.”

Newman went on to say that the money the boys raised will be invested in critical research, medical procedures, and devices that will help save lives and improve the lifestyles of individuals living with cardiovascular diseases and stroke. It will also be used to provide education and inspire people across Austin to improve their habits and be healthier.

As a reward, the Teske brothers were slimed by the other 32 students during the last week of school.

The brothers say they are proud of their fundraising efforts to help others and really liked getting slimed by their classmates.
