At its October 19, 2023 Regular Board meeting, the Board voted to approve a resolution regarding adequate funding for public schools.
The newly approved Resolution calls on the Texas Legislature to increase the basic allotment, keep discussions regarding public education funding separate from discussions to divert public funds away from public schools, and oppose sending public funds to private schools in any manner. It also revisited our Legislative Priorities for 2023, which were approved November 17, 2022, and focuses on the funding of public schools, and include the following: The District’s viewpoint on school finances, state testing and accountability, Senate Bill I, teacher recruitment and retention, and school safety.
