Anastasia Drabicky has been named Round Rock Independent School District’s Chief of Public Affairs and Communications.

Drabicky has extensive experience in school communications, as well as media relations and journalism. She spent nearly a decade at Austin Independent School District in increasingly higher-profile positions, and most recently served as AISD’s Executive Director of Communications and Community Engagement.

Prior to her time at Austin ISD, Drabicky was associate editor for Community Impact Newspaper, where she was responsible for coordinating multimarket projects and coverage, as well as special publications, social media management, photography training, reporting, copy editing, editorial team coaching, and e-newsletter management. She also previously served as editor for Community Impact’s San Marcos/Buda/Kyle edition and was Editor-in-Chief of Century-News in Dripping Springs.

“Effective communications and engagement with our parents, students, staff and community has never been more important,” Superintendent Dr. Hafedh Azaiez said. “We are so fortunate that Ms. Drabicky is joining our team at Round Rock ISD and bringing her extensive experience, as well as her passion for public education.”

Drabicky, who holds a Master of Arts degree in photojournalism and design from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts in news-editorial journalism and English from Texas Christian University, said she’s excited to lead the talented communications team at Round Rock ISD and build on its record of strong work.

“I’m honored to join the team and serve the Round Rock ISD families, staff and community,” she said. “I’m so excited to continue the work, and lead us forward as Round Rock ISD continues to grow and excel.”

Drabicky will join the District in her new role on Oct. 25, 2023.
