Laura Ihonvbere is the new principal of Callison Elementary School.
Ihonvbere has served in a campus leadership role with Round Rock ISD at C.D. Fulkes Middle School, Cactus Ranch Elementary School, Wells Branch Elementary Arts Integration Academy, and Chandler Oaks Elementary School since 2010. Recently she has served as assistant principal at Chandler Oaks for four years. Before her tenure as an administrator, Ihonvbere spent 22 years in the classroom teaching fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade.
As assistant principal, Ihonvbere made significant adjustments to school safety systems and protocols, decreased disciplinary incidents, conducted professional development to build teacher understanding of state testing changes, and increased teacher support and retention with a staff mentoring program.
“I am honored and thrilled to join the Callison Elementary family, a campus with a strong sense of community and pride,” said Ihonvbere. “I look forward to working together to continue to provide a safe, supportive, and collaborative culture for our staff, students, and families. Ihonvbere advances positive student outcomes with her training in IB® PYP, arts integration, restorative practices, Capturing Kids Hearts®, AVID, and Marzano educational practices.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Texas at Austin. And she earned her Master’s in Education Leadership and Administration from Texas State University.
