Amber Velasquez has been named the new principal of Old Town Elementary School.
Velasquez most recently served as a Summer Learning Principal and Associate Principal at Bluebonnet Elementary School. At Bluebonnet, she has helped design and implement efforts to improve early literacy on campus. She also helped lead work to improve student academic performance, particularly in the subject of math. Before her time as associate principal, she held the role of Assistant Principal at Bluebonnet and Instructional Coach at both Voigt Arts Integration Academy and Berkman Arts Integration Academy. She has 13 years of experience in education, with eight of those years as an elementary classroom teacher. She is also a graduate of the District’s Team One Program, designed to provide aspiring principals with professional development relevant to the principal role.

I am committed to continuing the work of our dedicated staff to ensure that all students at Old Town Elementary are inspired and empowered while they achieve high levels of academic and social-emotional success.”
Velasquez earned her Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction and a Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas State University.
