The Texas Education Agency (TEA) approved Round Rock ISD’s Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) application for the 2023-2024 school year. Approval of the TIA allows designated District teachers to qualify for higher compensation. TEA determines the increased earnings depending on the campus need and the teacher’s designation level.
TIA was made possible by the passage of House Bill 3 during the 2019 86th Legislative Session. TIA offers a pathway for high-performing teachers to elevate their annual salaries while assisting school districts in attracting and retaining highly effective educators. It serves as a channel for recognition and rewards, encouraging excellence in the teaching profession.
Districts seeking approval for a local designation system must complete a comprehensive, multi-year application process. This process initiates with the development of the system and the submission of an application that must meet statutory and regulatory criteria. Subsequently, districts dedicate a full year of implementation to collecting and documenting teacher performance data. Once collected, districts submit their data for validation by Texas Tech University. Finally, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) conducts a thorough and holistic review to grant full system approval, ensuring compliance and effectiveness.
TIA serves educators in 373 districts across all 20 Educational Service Center (ESC) regions actively participating in local designation systems. This widespread participation reflects TIA’s growing recognition and adoption as an effective means to acknowledge and support educators throughout the state.
