Parents/guardians of eligible four-year-olds will have their first chance to register for Round Rock ISD’s 2023-2024 full-day prekindergarten program on Saturday, April 1. Pre-K early registration remains open through Monday, May 15.
Studies show that children who participate in Pre-K are better prepared to start Kindergarten. And are significantly more likely to graduate from high school and college. Round Rock ISD Pre-K students enjoy a positive and supportive learning environment led by caring and professional early learning teachers. Round Rock ISD’s first school day for the 2023-2024 school year is Tuesday, Aug. 15.
Early registration begins online. Parents/guardians will upload and submit their child’s registration with the household’s two most recent pay stubs and proof of residence in the school district, the child’s birth certificate, and immunization records. School registrars will contact families if additional information is needed to complete registration.
Round Rock ISD offers a prekindergarten program for children who are four years old on or before September 1, 2023, and meet at least one of the following criteria established by the Texas Education Agency (TEA):
- is limited in the ability to speak and/or comprehend the English language; or
- is eligible for free or reduced lunch based on the family’s income; or
- is homeless, as defined by 42 U.S.C. Section 1143a; or
- is the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or
- a reserve component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority; or
- is the child of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty; or
- is or has been in the Department of Family and Protective Services conservatorship following an adversary hearing held as provided by Section 262.201, Family Code.
- is the child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award as:
- a peace officer under Section 3106.002, Government Code;
- a firefighter under Section 3106.003, Government Code; or
- an emergency medical first responder under Section 3106.004, Government Code.
Round Rock ISD does not offer a tuition-based prekindergarten program. The current program is for students who meet the criteria for entry established by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
