Campaign Materials at District and School Events

Round Rock Independent School District has very clear and consistent policies regarding the distribution of non-school literature such as campaign materials. Board Policy GKDA (Local) provides that:

Written or printed materials, handbills, photographs, pictures, films, tapes, or other visual or auditory materials not sponsored by the District or by a District-affiliated school-support organization shall not be sold, circulated, distributed, or posted on any District premises by any District employee or by persons or groups not associated with the District, except in accordance with this policy.

Pursuant to Board Policy, non-instructional materials such as campaign materials may not be distributed on District premises without prior review and permission from District administration.

FAFSA® opens Oct 1. Tips for getting started and free help to file

The State of Texas requires students in their senior year of high school to complete the FAFSA to graduate. When a student files the FAFSA, they may become eligible for scholarships or grants (based on need and merit), work-study programs, or low-interest loans. Some of the most beneficial financial aid funds are first-come, first-served. Students are twice as likely to receive financial help for college if they file the FAFSA early.

Laurel Mountain student becomes published author

Pranshi Mehta, a fifth grader at Laurel Mountain Elementary School, has written and now published an adventure book. Pranshi said she wanted to write a book about a young girl going on adventures and even saving her dad to show girls can be adventurous too. All the proceeds from the book benefit the Malala Fund, a non-profit organization that advocates for girls’ education.
