Round Rock ISD voters have re-elected current Board President Amber Feller to serve four more years as the Place 3 Trustee. Board Secretary Amy Weir and Vice President Tiffanie Harrison  were also elected to second terms as the Place 5 and Place 6 Trustees, respectively. The outcome is according to unofficial election results from Travis and Williamson counties.

Estevan “Chuy” Zárate, Place 1, and Alicia Markum, Place 4,  will join the Board of Trustees as new members.

The Board will canvass the election returns when final results are received by the county election offices.  Swearing in will likely take place on Dec. 13, the first scheduled meeting following canvassing.

“I want to wish our new Trustees a warm welcome and congratulate them on their election to these vital positions and, of course, express my unending gratitude to our returning Trustees for their incredible dedication to Round Rock ISD,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Hafedh Azaiez. “Our Board of Trustees plays a large role in our progress as a school district, and I look forward to working together to provide the best resources, opportunities and educational system possible for our students, staff and stakeholders.  I’d also like to thank Trustee Cory Vessa for her huge contributions and selfless service to the Round Rock ISD community. She cares deeply for Round Rock ISD schools and schools across Texas and I’m sure will continue to be a  passionate advocate for public education. ”

“I also want to express my gratitude to Dr. Kevin Johnson, a career educator who has dedicated his life to students and given selflessly of his time over the past few months as an appointed Trustee,” Dr. Azaiez said. “We have benefited from his expertise and commitment and appreciate his work so much.”

Elected Trustees serve four-year terms. Trustee Dr. Mary Bone, Place 2, and Trustee Danielle Weston, Place 7, were elected to their seats in 2020. Zárate won in a special election to fill Place 1, which was previously held by Dr. Jun Xiao who stepped down earlier this year. He will serve the remainder of Dr. Xiao’s term, which will expire in two years.

The seven members of the Board of Trustees are each elected at-large. Trustees meet regularly on the third Thursday of each month as well as additional called and workshop meetings as needed. Information on meetings can be found on the Board of Trustees Meeting website.
