Blackland Prairie Elementary School has achieved a Level 1 certification in the Marzano High Reliability Schools™ (HRS) program for creating a safe, supportive and collaborative culture.
According to the organization, Level 1 certification means Blackland Prairie has created a “Safe, Supportive, and Collaborative Culture,” which is the foundation for every level of certification that follows in the program. They also state that without such a culture, student achievement can be compromised.
“Our Level 1 certification is a testament to the hard work of our students, staff, parents, and community,” said Principal Jesica Cuellar. “We are fortunate to serve the best community in the District and they are committed to putting kids first, always. This allows us all to work together to create systems and processes so students are able to be in a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment. Furthermore, it allows us to continuously grow and become better for our students to become productive global citizens in our ever-changing world.”
The High Reliability School program was created by Marzano Research to help transform schools into organizations that take proactive steps to ensure student success. This framework is based on 50 years of educational research, which defines five progressive levels of performance that a school must master to become an HRS where all students learn the skills they need for success in college, careers, and beyond.
To be certified, schools must collect data and validate their performance to climb each level of the hierarchy. Day-to-day school operations are also addressed and evaluated in Level 1. Certification is determined by Marzano Research analysts in cooperation with school data teams.
Using the HRS framework and indicators, schools can drive sustained, positive, and significant impacts on student achievement by synthesizing multiple complex initiatives into one harmonious system, according to Marzano Research.
