Westwood High School Tennis team has once again made campus history by taking home the team championship title during the University Interscholastic League (UIL) 6A State Championship competition in late October.

This is Westwood’s third 6A team championship title in the past five seasons. The team clinched the title with a dominating 10-0 win over Houston Memorial in the Class 6A final. It’s the first time in the tournament’s history that a team has won with a 10-0 score .

Continuing their tournament wins, the team was also named the recipient of the USTA Sportsmanship Award for their conduct at the tournament both on and off the court.

“I’m just so proud of our kids and the hard work that they put in,” Westwood Coach Travis Dalrymple said. “It’s really special to watch it all come together at the state tournament and win with a score of 10-0. It was a total team effort from our best players all the way down to the players who don’t always see the starting court but help us practice every day and make us better.”

The Fall 2022 season has been a strong one for Westwood. They earned their thirteenth consecutive District Title  and were also named Area and Region Champions. Now, they will continue to compete and prepare for the Spring season.
