The Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees will appoint a new member to serve temporarily in the Trustee Place 1 position, which is being vacated by Trustee Jun Xiao. The Board accepted Xiao’s resignation in a called Board meeting on June 14, 2022. The appointee will serve until the November 2022 election, when the Place 1 seat will be on the ballot. The winner of the election will serve out Trustee Xiao’s term, which expires in November 2024.
Qualified community members who would like to be considered are invited to fill out the application by 12:00 p.m. on July 12. Those who wish to fill out the application in-person may do so at the Lillie Delgado Administration Building located at 1311 Round Rock Ave starting on July 5 during operation hours.
To be eligible to be appointed as a Trustee, a person must:
- be a United States citizen,
- be 18 years of age or older,
- have not been determined to be totally or partially mentally incapacitated by the courts,
- have not been convicted of a felony,
- be a resident of Texas for at least 12 months,
- be a resident of Round Rock ISD for at least six months, and
- be a registered voter.
From the applications submitted, each Trustee will choose one name for further consideration by the Board. Per Board policy, applicants selected to be interviewed will also undergo a background check.
Applicants will be required to submit the following information:
- Name, address, phone, and email address.
- Proof that you are a registered voter
- Resume of qualifications.
- Statement of the philosophy of board service and their commitment as a Trustee for Round Rock ISD (500 words or less).
