Brooke Elarms has been named the new principal of Sommer Elementary School. She will replace longtime principal Nancy Varljen who will be retiring at the end of this school year.
Elarms has served as the principal of Pond Springs Elementary School since 2017. Before being named principal, she supported the campus as assistant principal for four years. During that time, she established school-wide enrichment clusters as a model for the District and continued to build upon the model each year to connect students to future careers by inviting professionals to classrooms and providing students additional opportunities. She has spent her entire educational career in Round Rock ISD and previously taught at Teravista, Gattis and Blackland Prairie elementary schools. She has 17 years of experience in education.
Elarms is also a graduate of the District’s Team One Program, designed to provide aspiring principals with professional development relevant to the principal role.
“Sommer has a strong foundation for academic excellence,” Elarms said. “I am excited and look forward to continuing this tradition of excellence by looking for continued opportunities for growth.”
