Round Rock High School’s Model United Nations (UN) team, ROCKMUN, brought home seven awards from Model United Nations San Antonio (MUNSA), the nation’s largest student-run model UN conference.
Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN teams, compete by playing the role of United Nations delegates from different countries and simulating UN committees. Student delegates attempt to solve real-world issues with the policies and perspectives of their assigned government. Model UN competitions involve substantial research, public speaking, debating, writing skills, critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
“The ROCKMUN student delegates represented Round Rock with enthusiasm, diligence, and know-how,” said Marina Claxton, Round Rock High School teacher and ROCKMUN sponsor. “I would not be surprised if we had a few future ambassadors to the U.S. on the team. “
