On Saturday, Oct. 23 hundreds of volunteers came together in a large-scale event called Love the Rock. Many Round Rock ISD schools, Round Rock parks and residents in Chisholm Valley benefited from this incredible day of service.
Schools within or close to the Round Rock city limits were eligible to submit a project. Fifteen campuses took advantage, with projects including landscaping, staining benches, cleaning up trash, mulching and various outdoor art projects. Reba Mussey, principal of Deep Wood Elementary said she could not be happier with the outcome.
“I am so grateful for the time and service each of our volunteers gave on Saturday,” Mussy said. “It is great knowing that others love our community just as much as we do at Deep Wood Elementary! Thank you so much!”
The monumental effort took months to plan. Austin Bridge Builders Alliance in partnership with the City of Round Rock Neighborhood team, Round Rock Fire Department, City of Round Rock Parks and Recreation and Round Rock ISD all had a hand in pulling off the event.
“Round Rock ISD is honored to be a part of Love the Rock,” Community Partnerships Supervisor Rachael Sefton said. “The love for this city and our schools was apparent every step of the way from the planning stages to our students and families who served during the event.”
