Jesica Cuellar has been named the new principal of Blackland Prairie Elementary School. 

Cuellar has served as the assistant principal of Westwood High School since 2019. While at Westwood, she started the campus’ equity team to further establish a welcoming and accepting environment for all students and staff. She also led efforts to obtain community feedback through focus groups and surveys and used results to help develop initiatives related to campus improvement. She has a total of 15 years of experience in education.

Cuellar is also a graduate of the District’s Team One Program, designed to provide aspiring principals with professional development relevant to the principal role.

“I am so excited, honored, and humbled to serve the Blackland Prairie Community,” Cuellar said. “Together, we are going to ensure our students and staff continue to grow as world-class leaders while fostering relationships, focusing on social-emotional needs, and mastery learning.”

Cuellar earned her Master’s in Educational Leadership and Bachelor’s in Child and Family Studies from the University of Texas at Austin at Permian Basin.
