The Career and Technology Association of Texas (CTAT) Board of Directors unanimously approved Sheri Bonds, the District’s Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE), as the President-Elect and At-Large Director for consecutive terms starting this upcoming school year.
In these roles, Bonds will support CTAT, the leading advocate supporting career and CTE programs in the state, by developing opportunities for professional development and growth for educators and staff. Along with providing avenues to develop skills and knowledge, another goal is facilitating collaboration between school districts and the exchange of ideas and best practices on how to implement CTE initiatives.
“Providing opportunities for our members to develop as leaders both in their professional career and in our organization are vital to our continued success and growth. These leaders will be the next generation to work in concert with CTAT staff and all stakeholders to continue to represent the best interests of CTE at the local and state level. CTAT has provided me with opportunities to grow as a leader and I want to give back,” says Bond.
Bonds has 18 years of experience in CTE and has served on the CTAT Board of Directors for three years. Throughout her career she has developed and implemented multiple student and teacher programs, testified at the state capitol to support CTE, and increased enrollment and industry certifications.
“Sheri Bonds is a visionary leader and strong advocate for CTE,” said Robin Painovich, CTAT executive director. “She believes in empowering others to do their best no matter the odds. Her contributions to CTAT have helped CTE administrators and teachers become more effective in their roles, ultimately impacting program quality across the state. CTAT is fortunate to have Sheri as incoming president on the board of directors.”
