We had dreams too. These words were spoken by mother in 1994 when we were visiting the sharecropper plantation that she grew up on in Belzoni, Mississippi, from 1946 until when she left to go north in 1966. In these words, we find both the hope and the disappointment of Juneteenth – when in 1865, slaves in Galveston, Texas were notified of the Emancipation Proclamation, issued two years earlier on January 1, 1863.

Second Dose COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics

On Tuesday, June 15 through Thursday, June 17, community members ages 12 and up can receive their second dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at Stony Point High School Auditorium, located at 1801 Tiger Trail in Round Rock.

Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees Appoints Dr. Hafedh Azaiez as Superintendent

The Round Rock Independent School District Board of Trustees has named Dr. Hafedh Azaiez the District’s next Superintendent. Dr. Azaiez will officially begin his new role on July 5. The District will host opportunities for the community to engage with Dr. Azaiez in July. More information on those events will be shared with families and community members soon.

Update on Planning for Fall 2021

As we plan our return to the on-campus experience our parents and students have come to expect from Round Rock ISD, we did, however, want to be able to provide a virtual option for a longer period of time for those students who may need it due to health concerns, particularly since vaccines for children under the age of 12 will likely not be available until later in the fall. Unfortunately, a bill (HB 1468) in the Texas Legislature making that option possible for Round Rock ISD failed to pass this Legislative Session, which ended on Monday, May 31.

Round Rock Rotary Provides Graduation Gifts For Students In Need

The past year has been difficult for everyone, but among those most affected by the pandemic are students whose living situation is not stable. In Round Rock ISD, these students are supported by the Round Rock ISD Families in Transition (FiT) program. Students in the FiT program are classified as homeless.
