No one should feel alone in their mental health journey or without the resources and support they need. May is observed as Mental Health Awareness Month to spur conversations and highlight the importance of mental well-being.
“Mental well-being is as important as physical well-being,” said Dr. Christina Wiswell, Round Rock ISD director of counseling services. “Seeking the help of a professional when in need is simply taking care of yourself and those you care about in your life.”
Mental health experts say things like going outside for a walk, eating healthier, getting more sleep, practicing gratitude, connecting with loved ones and spiritual practice can help promote mental well-being.
Everyone faces challenges in their life that can impact their mental health. If you’re a student or staff member who needs support, please reach out to your school counselor. School counselors are available to guide members of their campus community to different programs and resources available in our schools.
