Students from Canyon Vista Middle School and Westwood High School used their minds to pass the competition and take home some of the top prizes at the 2021 Texas Science and Engineering Fair (TSEF).
TSEF, operated by Texas A&M University, is an annual state science competition for students in sixth through 12th grade. The fair provides an opportunity for middle and high school students across Texas to showcase their research projects in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, according to TSEF.
The winning students for the middle school category are listed below with their respective schools and awards:
- Ram Sivaraman, third place in Computer Science: Systems Software, Canyon Vista.
The winning students for the high school category are listed below with their respective schools and awards:
- Christopher Huh, first place in Materials Science, Westwood,
- Aneesh Vanguri, second place in Computer Science: Hardware/ Embedded Systems, Westwood, and
- Vaishnuv Thiagarajan, third place in Animal Sciences, Westwood.
With their first and second place win, Huh and Vanguri will advance to the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), which will be held virtually in early May. They, along with all of the other high school winners, will also have the opportunity to attend the Governor’s Science and Technology Champions Academy this summer.
