Kimberly Connelly has been named the inaugural principal of Elementary 35, Round Rock ISD’s newest campus currently under construction and scheduled to open in Fall 2021.

Connelly has served as the principal of Union Hill Elementary School since 2011 and, during that time, led the campus’ Capturing Kids’ Hearts process champions team, which resulted in the campus being named a National Showcase school for 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. Before her time as a principal at Union Hill, she served as an assistant principal at Teravista and Gattis elementary schools.

“It is an honor and privilege to be named the first principal for Elementary 35,” Connelly said. “I look forward to serving as a champion for our community to build strong relationships, achieve academic excellence, and ensure social emotional health for all our students.”

Connelly earned her Master’s in Education and Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas State University.

The new campus, which will feature flexible learning spaces and a creative, student-focused design is located on the District’s northeast side at 1500 Ty Cobb Place. The school was approved by voters in the 2018 Bond to provide space for the growing student population and relieve overcrowding at Herrington Elementary School.

A committee of community members appointed by the Board of Trustees will meet in February to consider suggestions for the new school’s name and make a recommendation to the Board in March. The Board is expected to approve a name in April.
