The Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees voted Thursday, Jan. 14, unanimously to approve a one-time, lump-sum payment of $500 for each District staff member currently employed.
Acting Superintendent of Schools Dr. Daniel Presley brought the resolution authorizing the payment to the Trustees at the Board’s request as an effort to retain, recognize and support staff during this school year with the unprecedented challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The payment will be issued on or before February 28, 2021, and will cost the District $3.4 million. Round Rock ISD Chief Financial Officer Dr. Kenneth Adix said the payments will be funded with money from the fund balance — essentially the District’s savings account.
