The Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees has named Dr. Daniel Presley to serve as Acting Superintendent of Schools. The appointment follows the announcement by Steve Flores, Ph.D., that he is stepping down as Superintendent of Schools to focus on family and pursue other professional endeavors.
“I am proud and honored to serve Round Rock ISD, a District I love deeply, in this role and I appreciate the Trustees for placing their trust in me,” Presley said. “This year has presented the most challenging circumstances for public education in our lifetime and I am committed to providing steady leadership during this transition.”
Flores, who has 37 years of experience in education, has served as Superintendent in Round Rock ISD since 2013. His last official day in that role is Tuesday, Dec. 1. However, he will remain an employee of the District until March 31, 2021, to assist with the transition of leadership.
Presley has more than 30 years of experience as an educator in schools throughout Texas and Louisiana and was the inaugural principal of Cedar Ridge High School. In his current role as Senior Chief of Schools and Innovation, the District’s second-in-command, Presley oversees the District’s Area Superintendents as well as departments including Health Services, Fine Arts and Athletics. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Centenary College in Louisiana and his doctoral degree from Texas A&M University in College Station. He will lead the District as Acting Superintendent as a search for Round Rock ISD’s next superintendent is launched.
