Amanda Serna Named Principal of Grisham Middle School

Amanda Serna has been named the new principal of Grisham Middle School. Serna has served as the assistant principal of Grisham since 2016 and, during that time, supervised the campus’ Restorative Discipline Plan/Practices, which has resulted in over 80% drop in discipline referrals over the 2018-2019 school year.

Superintendent’s Update: Summer Strength Training Camp and Fall

Given the current spike in COVID-19 cases across Texas and specifically here in the Austin area, we will be halting summer strength training camps for our athletes, which have been underway on high school campuses on a voluntary basis and with strict protocols since June 8. Earlier this week, the Texas Education Agency met Tuesday and Thursday with superintendents across the state via phone conference to outline guidelines for remote learning opportunities.

Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees approve 2020-2021 budget

The Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees approved a budget of $450.7 million for the 2020-2021 year at its June 18 regular Board meeting. The budget includes funds to utilize new technology and learning resources to allow the District to adapt to changes in teaching and learning as a result of COVID-19.

Prekindergarten and New Student Enrollment opens July 6

New students, Kindergarten through grade 12, and qualifying students entering prekindergarten have their first opportunity to enroll online on Monday, July 6. Online enrollment includes opening a parent/guardian account, completing required student forms, and uploading qualifying documents.

Round Rock ISD to continue curbside meal distribution through July 31

Round Rock ISD will continue curbside meal distribution through July 31. Curbside lunch and breakfast for the following day will continue to be served to students under the age of 18 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m on Monday through Friday. Weekend meals will also be available for students to pick up during meal distribution each Friday.

Summer strength training for Round Rock ISD athletes to begin June 8

In accordance with recently released guidelines from the University Interscholastic League (UIL) and the Texas Education Agency (TEA), Round Rock ISD will allow students on a voluntary basis to participate in summer strength and conditioning programs at the District’s five comprehensive high school campuses beginning Monday, June 8 and continuing through July 31.

This has been a difficult week for our country and our community. Survey reveals students miss Teacher/Classmate interactions

More than 33,000 Round Rock ISD parents, guardians, students, and staff completed a survey responding to questions about challenges and successes of at-home learning during the COVID-19 school closures. Collectively, survey groups cited lack of teacher/classmate/colleague interaction and collaboration as the biggest challenge of at-home learning.
