For going above and beyond for her campus, Superintendent Steve Flores, Ph.D. named Claudia Cadena, lead custodian at Pearson Ranch Middle School, as the Superintendent’s RRock Star for October 2018.
Cadena is known at her campus for always having a smile on her face and going to great lengths every day to make sure her campus is ready to serve students and be a point of pride for her community.
“It’s not only Claudia’s work as lead custodian that makes her a RRock Star, but it’s also her commitment to embodying the District’s ‘One Family’ mentality and serving students whenever possible,” Flores said.
A prime example of her service to students shined when she came across a student sitting in the commons area and struck up a conversation. After hearing that the student was struggling with his Spanish assignment, she immediately pulled up a chair and began helping him with his work.
Last year, when Pearson Ranch celebrated Dia De Los Muertos, she enthusiastically volunteered to dress as Frida Kahlo for their ofrenda, which is part of the Dia De Los Muertos celebration. This act of service is not anything new as she volunteered every year to do this at the campus she previously served, Deerpark Middle School.
It’s a universal feeling amongst the Pearson Ranch Middle School staff that both their campus community and the Round Rock ISD community are a better place because Cadena is a part of it.
RRock Star is a distinction awarded by the Superintendent to a member of the Round Rock ISD team who impacts students across the District.
