Superintendent Steve Flores, Ph.D. named Margo Vogelpohl, Director of Title I and Prekindergarten programs, as the Superintendent’s RRock Star for September 2018.
Vogelpohl is passionate about early childhood development and education. During her time as Director, Vogelpohl launched the RRock Ready program that provides professional development and support to community childcare centers and home day cares to support early learning. The program’s goal is to ensure students are ready to enter kindergarten. Vogelpohl also heads up Prekindergarten Rodeo, an annual enrollment event.
This school year Vogelpohl helped facilitate the implementation of a full-day Prekindergarten program on thirteen of our elementary campuses who serve the most at-risk students. This all day expansion allows students to have a better chance at developing the academic foundation needed to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. The students also have access to fine arts and physical education which had not been an option for half-day Prekindergarten due to the constrained time frame.
Prior to becoming the Director of Title I and Prekindergarten programs, Vogelpohl served the District for 21 years as a kindergarten teacher, science lab instructor, bilingual coach, assistant principal and as the coordinator of Title 1 programs.
“Margo is fervent about access to early learning programs and providing opportunities for all to be kindergarten ready,” Flores said. “She works tirelessly with our staff and the community making sure our youngest students have access to programs that help them begin their journey in Round Rock ISD. We are incredibly fortunate to have her in this role.”
RRock Star is a distinction awarded by the Superintendent to a member of the Round Rock ISD team who impacts students across the District.
