Terry C. Worcester has been named Round Rock Independent School District’s Chief Operating Officer.
Worcester has more than 30 years of experience in architectural design and currently serves as Round Rock ISD’s director of construction, where he is charged with oversight of construction projects totaling approximately $300 million. Before coming to Round Rock ISD in May 2017, Worcester served in two Arizona school districts, leading and collaborating on several multi-million construction projects and restructuring operations departments for maximum production and efficiency. He worked in the architectural design and construction industry for more than 25 years as a project manager, associate, partner and director in architectural firms before making the move into education administration.
Worcester earned a Master of Legal Studies with an emphasis in sustainability, education and construction law from Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law and a Bachelor of Architecture, a five-year program equivalent to a master’s degree, from Kansas State University.
“In the time he has served in Round Rock ISD, Terry has distinguished himself as an inspirational leader with unrivaled knowledge and insight of the architectural design and construction industry,” Superintendent of Schools Steve Flores, Ph.D., said. “His extensive expertise, not just in designing and building schools and facilities, but also in construction law and the oversight and management of operations for large organizations, coupled with his commitment to and passion for the mission of public education, make him a fantastic choice to fill this important role.”
Worcester will begin his new role immediately.
“Being associated with an organization that pursues visionary and inspired leadership in support of student achievement is my primary professional goal,” Worcester said. “I believe that Round Rock ISD is such an organization—a progressive public school district committed to providing a world-class education for its students. I am honored to serve the students, parents, staff and the entire community of Round Rock ISD in this role.”
