The Board of Trustees wants citizen volunteers to evaluate and prioritize possible projects for a potential Bond Election in November 2018 or May 2019.

The Board approved a Citizens Bond Committee (CBC) Charter during its January 18, 2018, regular meeting. This is the next step in determining which capital needs should be addressed by the Board and potentially creating a Bond proposal to fund new facilities, safety and security, technology, infrastructure, and capital renewal and replacement.

The CBC will be comprised of three subcommittees:

  • The Districtwide Subcommittee will focus on safety, technology, and instructional programs that impact the entire district.
  • The Growth Subcommittee will focus on facility needs to address growth and overcrowding, including new schools, land, additions, renovations.
  • The Capital Renewal and Replacement Subcommittee will focus on critical components of existing facility infrastructure.

Citizens can learn more about the CBC Charter by reading the adopted charter to the Board of Trustees and fill out the CBC registration form if interested in participating by February 12 at 11:59 p.m.

“We have an opportunity to come together with our community and learn more about where they see need for capital improvements and their priorities when it relates to our schools and District,” Board President Diane Cox said. “This is the first step in opening that dialogue and working together to determine the best course of action for our students and community.”

CBC subcommittees will meet to review presentations and information and create a draft report of their findings and recommendations which will be delivered to the Board of Trustees no later than June 21, 2018 for a potential November 2018 Bond Election or January 17, 2019 for a potential May 2019 Bond Election.

The CBC will propose and prioritize projects based on the following criteria:

  • Safety and security
  • Demographics and growth
  • Financial efficiency
  • District vision, strategic plan, and learning framework*
