Canyon Creek Elementary Librarian Julianne Bamford has been appointed by the Texas Library Association to be a member of the 2018 Texas Bluebonnet Award program committee.

The Texas Bluebonnet Award reading program was established in 1979 to encourage Texas children to read more books, explore a variety of current books, develop powers of discrimination and identify their favorite books.

The Bluebonnet Program Committee is charged with the responsibility of creating programming and support for the Texas Bluebonnet Program. Members must belong to either Children’s Round Table or the Texas Association of School Librarians.

Bamford will serve a three-year term which started on April 28, 2017, and will join two other Round Rock ISD Librarians, Ruth Cook and Stephanie Inzana at Pond Springs and Blackland Prairie elementary schools, respectively, whose terms expire April 2018.

“I am very honored to be selected for this committee and thrilled to be joining two other amazing Round Rock ISD librarians,” said Bamford. “I wanted to be a part of the committee so I could grow as a librarian and so my students could benefit even more from the programs.”

The Texas Library Association sponsors the Texas Bluebonnet Award reading list solely to encourage free voluntary reading.
