Over the course of the 2016-2017 school year, students in the McNeil High School FFA (formerly Future Farmers of America) chapter earned a record number of achievements in the district, regional area, and State FFA events.
Competitive events consisted of Leadership Development which focused on communication and presentation skills; Career Development through the application of career skills in areas throughout the agriculture industry; and Speaking Development where students wrote and spoke about the practices of agriculture. Students developed their skills and prepared for competitions by applying real world scenarios to classroom lessons.
Overall the McNeil FFA team competed in more than 24 competitions earning second place at both the Leadership Development and Career Development CenTex District Sweepstakes.
At the Texas FFA Convention, McNeil students took second and third place in the AgriScience Fair competition.
“Several of our McNeil FFA students have earned Lone Star Degrees, the highest FFA honor awarded by the State. Another will be recognized at the National FFA Competition for earning his American Degree,” said Agriculture Science Teacher Beverley Schroedter. “We are very proud of the all our students and their accomplishments.”
