Round Rock ISD has named Matt Groff the new principal of Round Rock High School.
Groff has worked in Round Rock ISD for 15 years and most recently served Cedar Valley Middle School as principal since 2011. He previously served Westwood High School and Cedar Valley Middle School as an assistant principal and in Karnes ISD and Leander ISD as a teacher. He has 20 years of experience in education.
“Matt Groff is an excellent educational leader with a longstanding reputation of advocating for student success and building positive relationships with his campus community,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve Flores said. “I am confident that his leadership will have a positive impact on the Round Rock High School community of achievement and he will continue to further build connections and develop strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.”
Groff earned his Master’s of Science in Secondary Education from Texas State University and his Bachelor’s degree in Science from Sam Houston University.
“I am honored to be given the opportunity to serve the Round Rock High School community as its new principal,” Groff said. “Although it is bittersweet to leave the Cedar Valley community, I am excited for the opportunity to serve one of the best high schools in the state and continue to serve many Cedar Valley students as they enter Round Rock High School.”
Retired principal Shelly Hohmann will serve as interim principal of Cedar Valley until a permanent replacement is named. Hohmann previously served as the principal of Caraway Elementary School and has 31 years of experience in the District.
Round Rock High School, located at 201 Deep Wood Dr. in Round Rock, serves 3,119 students in ninth through 12th grade.
