This fall Tianyu Liang, Round Rock High School’s Class of 2017 Salutatorian will attend the University of Texas at Austin as a computer science major.

The Round Rock senior was a member of the orchestra and football team. Tianyu enjoys math, reading Daoism philosophies and developing his aptitude at problem-solving. He cites being able to properly time manage to simultaneously achieve academically and personally as something that gives him personal pride.

Tianyu acknowledges Round Rock math teacher Janet Sanders as a teacher he considers influential on his high school academic career.

“Tianyu is a very serious student. He is naturally gifted in math and picks up concepts quickly. His classmates often look to him for insight into the course concepts and problem-solving,” Sanders said. “We have had many conversations on many topics, and it has been a joy to have a student with a different perspective on life in general.”

Tianyu is looking forward to further challenging himself when he arrives at UT Austin.
