The Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees voted to approve a $34.2 million construction contract for Middle School No. 11 at its Nov. 19 regular board meeting.

The contract was awarded to Bartlett Cocke General Contractors, whose bid of $34,221,800 was recommended for consideration by district staff. A total of four construction companies submitted bids for the project.

“Bartlett Cocke is a well-known school builder in Texas and has a long history with Round Rock ISD,” Tim Strucely, Round Rock ISD director of facilities and construction, said. “We are confident that our continued partnership with Bartlett Cocke will yield yet another world class building for our community.”

The new middle school will have a floor plan similar to Walsh Middle School and includes an in-school dance gym and an additional ensemble space in the fine arts wing.

Middle School No. 11 was approved in the 2014 Bond, totaling a combined $49,833,032. The school will be built in the Parmer Lane corridor near England Elementary School, and will relieve Walsh from over enrollment.

The school is scheduled to be open for classes in August 2017.
