Forest Creek third-grade student Ashwin Prabhu was one of 45 students nationwide to compete in the Mathnasium Trimathlon tiebreaker after earning a perfect score in the local competition.

Students from Round Rock, Hutto and surrounding communities participated in the Mathnasium Trimathlon competition, which also raised $35,000 for schools in the Austin area and across the country. The competition, hosted by Mathnasium Learning Center, was open to students in second through fifth grades.

“I feel proud of myself,” Ashwin said. “I feel stronger when I can solve things by myself and I always practice to get better.”

Ashwin earned a perfect score in three challenges: the counting game, the magic squares challenge and the mental math workout. Each of the challenges tasked participants to showcase their math skills and compete against peers.

“We are proud to celebrate Ashwin’s success,” Forest Creek Principal Sheri Lehnick said. “Competing on a national level at a young age takes true determination and dedication to learning, both of which Ashwin models daily at Forest Creek.”
