Elementary students across Round Rock ISD spent a Saturday morning developing skills that will help them become future leaders during the World Class Student Leadership Conference on Nov. 12.

Hosted at Great Oaks Elementary School, the conference offered 340 elementary student council members the opportunity to participate in different leadership sessions throughout the morning and learn how their roles in student council are helping them develop particular leadership skills.

“Our district is committed to building leadership capacity at all levels of our organization,” Executive Director of Elementary Education Carla Amacher said. “Our World Class Elementary Student Leadership Conference is a prime example of that commitment and how enthusiastic our students are to develop themselves as leaders and individuals.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve Flores and other District leaders started the event by sharing stories of their elementary school leadership experiences. The students then dispersed into breakout sessions, before coming back together to show off school spirit by displaying campus specific cheers.

This is the third year elementary schools in Round Rock ISD have participated in the World Class Student Leadership Conference.
