Round Rock ISD has named Reba Mussey the new principal of Deep Wood Elementary School.

Mussey has served as the assistant principal of Cactus Ranch Elementary School since 2014 and previously held the position as assistant principal at Jollyville Elementary School. She has a total of 14 years of experience in education.

Mussey will replace Martha Werner who was selected to serve as the Director of Elementary Staffing & Employee Relations at Leander ISD.

“I am excited and honored to serve the Deep Wood learning community as principal,” Mussey said. “I have a deep desire to build new relationships and am so excited to meet our students, staff and community members.”

Mussey is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin Principalship Program provided by the Department of Educational Administration. She also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Science in Interdisciplinary Skills from Texas State University.

“Reba Mussey is an advocate of student success for all and an outstanding educational leader,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve Flores said. “She has a strong reputation for building quality relationships with her staff, students and community and we look forward to seeing that level of leadership propel Deep Wood further on the path of achievement.”

Deep Wood, located in Round Rock, features an enrollment of 339 students.
