The Round Rock and Cedar Ridge high school water polo teams will travel to College Station to compete at the Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (TISCA) Water Polo State Championships, which invited the top 16 teams from across Texas.
The Round Rock and Cedar Ridge girls teams and the Round Rock boys team will compete April 29.
“It’s super exciting to go to state,” Round Rock Senior Kaci Katusak said. “It’s really special because we’ve had a big part in growing water polo in Central Texas. We get to see little kids come to our games and want to play so it’s like a whole new generation of water polo coming after us.”
Both girls and boys teams competed for a chance to go to the state meet at the TISCA Water Polo West Region Championships, held April 17, 2016 at the University of Texas at Austin. The top four girls and boys teams advanced to the state meet.
“We feel really good about going to state,” Cedar Ridge Senior Cassandra Keating said. “It’s going to be a fun experience traveling together and getting experience competing against new teams.”
