Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve Flores named Dr. Daniel Presley as the new chief of schools & innovation for Round Rock ISD.

Dr. Presley has served as the interim chief of schools & innovation since July 17. Prior to that, he served as the principal at Cedar Ridge High School since June 2009. The district will begin a nationwide search to find a permanent replacement for CRHS, until then Associate Principal Lynette Thomas will continue to serve as the Interim Principal.

“I am humbled by the opportunity to serve the students and parents of Round Rock ISD in this leadership role,” Dr. Presley said. “My passion has been education for over 30 years. I am excited to take on this new role, and to work with our principals to build world class schools for students.”

Dr. Presley has worked in a variety of demographic and socioeconomic schools during his 30 years as an educator. He earned his bachelors and masters degrees from Centenary College in Louisiana and his doctoral degree from Texas A&M University in College Station.

“Our hiring committee sought an experienced educator with a vision for leadership and a student-focused mentality,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve Flores said. “Dr. Presley is knowledgeable about the Round Rock ISD community and district. At the same time, he brings a critical lens to the position, along with problem solving and creative thinking skills.”

Dr. Presley plans to set a clear vision and direction in his new role, working alongside Chief of Teaching and Learning Robbin Gesch to maximize successful student outcomes.
