Safe in Austin: A Field Trip to Remember
The Round Rock ISD Deaf Education program enjoyed a trip to Safe In Austin, an animal sanctuary just outside of Austin that houses animals with special needs and disablities. The students had a blast petting the animals and learning how the adapt to their environment.
All for Lunch helps ensure every student has a seat at the table
Student lunch debt at the district's Title I campuses has been reduced by half, thanks to the generosity of All for Lunch. This nonprofit is dedicated to eliminating school lunch debt and fighting childhood food insecurity.
District evaluates changes to state-provided curriculum
Known as Bluebonnet Learning, the revised curriculum provides both math and reading/language arts lessons, replacing three other curricula currently being used by districts, including Round Rock ISD.
Bluebonnet’s inclusion of Bible- and Christianity-based stories has caused confusion among families and staff alike. To help offer some clarity, Round Rock ISD is providing background and other basic information for our community.
Board Brief for November 21, 2024 Regular Board Meeting
The regular board meeting on November 21, 2024 the board welcomed new trustees while electing new officers. The board was updated on the goal progress measuring student outcomes based on student well-being, approved budget updates, and recognized district and campus staff members for their outstanding work.

Four High Schools make the College Board’s AP® School Honor Roll
For the second consecutive year, Round Rock ISD has been honored by the College Board with placement on the 9th Annual AP® District Honor Roll. The District is one of 373 school districts in the U.S. and Canada to earn this honor, which recognizes efforts and growth to the Advanced Placement (AP) program.
Chris Mihealsick named 2025 Texas Teacher of the Year
Westwood High School science teacher Chris Mihealsick has been named 2025 Texas Teacher of the Year.
Round Rock ISD receives Star of Distinction for C.D. Fulkes Middle School
The Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) and the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) announced that C.D. Fulkes Middle School was one of 41 projects chosen for the 2024-25 Exhibit of School Architecture competition.
