UPDATED WITH EXPECTED WEATHER INFO: Need-based Laptop Distribution to Begin Tuesday, March 31

Round Rock ISD is preparing thousands of Google Chromebooks for distribution to students who need access to devices to engage in at-home instruction. Curbside distribution will begin on Tuesday, March 31, and continue through Friday, April 3. Teacher-led, at-home instruction begins on Monday, April 6. The Chromebooks are intended for students who have no or limited access to devices in their homes. District technology staff have installed content filtering to only allow online access to educational resources.

School Closure Meal Distribution Times To Transition to Once Per Day, Weekend Meal Service Set To Launch

To reduce the number of trips for parents and guardians, the Round Rock ISD Food Services Department will be transitioning meal distribution times to once per day starting on Tuesday, March 31. Beginning Friday, April 3, students will also be able to pick up meals from any location for Saturday and Sunday during that day’s meal distribution time. Weekend meals for students will be available for pickup each Friday.

Campus and office closures extended until April 13 and preparing for the future

In the best interest of the health and safety of our students and staff, Round Rock ISD will be extending school and office closures until April 13. This date aligns with both Travis and Williamson counties’ stay home, stay safe orders, and allows our entire community to do our part in keeping each other as healthy as possible. While this extension could mean students and staff will be back in our schools and facilities on April 13, we should prepare as a community for the strong possibility of school closures extending further, potentially through the end of the school year.

Round Rock ISD’s Home Learning Hub includes grade-level resources anchored in our Aligned Round Rock Curriculum (ARRC) which is the foundation for all teaching and learning in the District.

Health and Wellness Update: Activities Canceled and Determining School Closures

Throughout Spring Break, we will be working with our public health agencies regarding decisions on school closures and other responses related to the COVID-19 pandemic. We will inform our community by Thursday, March 19, if the return date for students or staff is later than March 23. Beginning Sunday, March 15, we are canceling all activities, events, and rentals of school facilities from outside organizations throughout the week of Spring Break. This includes, but is not limited to, practices and rehearsals for UIL activities, all special events, gatherings, performances and presentations, and meetings. The UIL is also suspending all UIL sanctioned contests effective March 16 through at least March 29.

Monitoring Continues: Classes to Continue as Scheduled

We want to assure you that Round Rock ISD classes will continue today as regularly scheduled. District administration is closely monitoring the situation and will notify parents of any changes to school operations occur. At this time, as you know, Round Rock ISD is scheduled to be closed for Spring Break after classes dismiss today. Students and staff are currently scheduled to return March 23.

Health and Wellness Update: Travel Restrictions

The health and wellbeing of our community, students and staff is our top priority and we want to be sure to keep you informed of our actions to protect against the risk of the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on our campuses and our community. Round Rock ISD is closely monitoring reports and information shared by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and we are aware of today’s alert from the World Health Organization which has now designated COVID-19 as a pandemic.Due to this news and the evolving nature of the situation, we are suspending all district-sponsored out-of-state travel for students and staff and will evaluate all travel on a case-by-case basis when we return from Spring Break.
