The Round Rock ISD Community Education Department offers Central Texas children, ages 5 -18, summer activity camps beginning the first week of June through August 1. Camps are held Monday through Thursday.
The Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees approved the academic calendar for the 2020-2021 school year during its regular meeting on Feb.28. Much like the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 calendars, the 2020-2021 academic calendar includes 75,600 operational minutes. A state professional development waiver accounts for 2,100 operational minutes through the use of five Professional Development Days within the school year.
For families needing more than the six allotted graduation tickets for the May 2019 ceremonies, an online request for additional graduation tickets may be requested. The form will be available to complete from Feb. 11 to Feb. 22. The submission of the form does not guarantee additional tickets.
Round Rock ISD Seniors eligible for graduation who will be attending Austin Community College (ACC) in the Fall are encouraged to apply for a 10-week paid summer internship with Samsung Semiconductor in Austin.
Due to new requirements by the H-E-B Center, admittance into Round Rock ISD Graduation Ceremonies will now be by ticket only and will be in effect for all May 2019 ceremonies. The H-E-B Center is making this a requirement to ensure attendance does not exceed the appropriate capacity of the event center and to ensure the safety of students and guests.

Westwood and McNeil high schools are slated for significant work if voters approve Round Rock Independent School District’s proposed Bond on Nov. 6. The $508.4 million Bond is not expected to raise the District’s tax rate, which is at a 30-year low.
The Austin Water Utility has announced that, due to flooding, the utility is unable to keep up with the demand of cleaning water that has extra debris so they have issued a Boil Water Notice for all retail and wholesale, including Round Rock ISD schools served by the City of Austin Water Utility. Round Rock ISD alumni who have not fulfilled their TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) test graduation requirements, which became state-mandated in 2002, are encouraged to attend an information session at Success High School and learn how to satisfy the requirement to receive their high school diploma.
Several times a week Buzz, a long-haired double dapple dachshund, fulfills his duties as a therapy dog for the students in the deaf education classes at McNeil High School. Buzz, also deaf, knows and responds to sign language.
A total of 75 Round Rock ISD students have been named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Westwood High School, with 57 semifinalists, led the District in total semifinalists.
On Monday, Oct. 15, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. high school seniors set to enter college in the Fall of 2019 and their parents can receive free assistance filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
